I come from a close-knit family with two sisters and a brother.
We love family gatherings, so find the smallest excuse to celebrate.
My youngest sister got engaged two weeks ago, and we couldn’t wait to fuss over her gorgeous ring and fiance. My mom didn’t have to ask me twice to help plan a surprise party to welcome the new addition to our growing family. They arrived about an hour late, but we didn’t mind playing a few rounds of pictionary as we waited. My brother-in-law was very apologetic as he explained that he got a last-minute call at work that he just couldn’t ignore. He was an established HVAC specialist, and one of his elderly clients had an issue with his home’s heating equipment. His HVAC serviceman was away at another job, so he had to step in and help. What was supposed to be a simple boiler repair turned into an unexpected heat pump installation. Turned out the client had electric heating system and had skipped three scheduled heater maintenance sessions. There was an upper-level surge earlier in the day, which affected the electric heat pump. My in-law had to dismantle and reappoint the electric HVAC with the help of a heating technician, a task that took a few hours. He started a casual chat with the client to share some energy-saving tips and mentioned that installing a HEPA filter and wireless thermostat would make the heater more efficient and make his life easier. Since it was getting late, he offered to check out some HVAC products for sale in the local store and return the next day to connect everything. I’ve toyed with the idea of such a thermostat for a while, and I think I now have the perfect person for the job.
