I bought my first restaurant when I was 26 years old.
I saved for 3 years and I lived with my parents during that time.
I drove a car that had lots of problems instead of buying something brand new. I really wanted to buy a restaurant and be my own chef. When I made the dream come true, my parents were very proud of me. After I bought the restaurant, I bought my first house and then I bought a new car. I didn’t splurge, because I knew that I had to put a lot of money back into the restaurant, but I got a small three bedroom house a few miles away from the restaurant and a four-door sedan with good gas mileage. I bought my second restaurant when I was 30 years old. The second restaurant location is in a different city. My executive chef wanted to open a restaurant and the two of us decided to go 50/50 on a new place. We had to spend a lot of money to get the second restaurant location up and running. After we bought the place, we found out that the sewer lines needed to be cleaned and cleared. It looked like the previous owner was dumping garbage and grease into the sewer. The toilets would not flush and the plumbing company told us it was going to take a sewer expert to get rid of all the debris. It cost the two of us nearly $5,000 to get the sewer line work done, but it’s a job we will only have to do once.
