I needed the time off and I couldn't do anything else

A new manager took over the duties at the heating and AC repair shop and the guy isn’t very nice, flexible, or understanding.

The old manager was very flexible with the schedule.

Anytime we needed to make changes, he was happy to adjust the schedule. As long as we found someone to cover the shift, the guy did not mind if we needed to move a day around. The new manager has the state of mind that once the schedule is done, that is the days that you have to work. My girlfriend is pregnant and lately we have had to go to the doctor a lot of times. The pregnancy is not going as smoothly as the two of us hoped. I told my boss that I needed a Tuesday off so I could go to an appointment with my girlfriend. He told me that the schedule was already made and I was supposed to work that day. I told my boss that the appointment was at 2:00 p.m. and that I would happily work at the heating and AC repair shop in the morning until 1:00 when I would have to leave. The new manager threatened to dock my pay if I left early, but I needed the time off and there was nothing else that I could do. I ended up leaving in the middle of the day. I left at 12:30 when I was finished with a furnace tune up. I didn’t call the boss to get another job for the afternoon.
