Last month I had a work conference in another city and I had to stay in a hotel for a couple of days.
Normally I wouldn’t mind staying in a hotel, but the human resources department put me up in a 3-star place with one problem after another.
When I arrived at the hotel, the desk clerk couldn’t find my reservation. Thankfully I had the confirmation number in my email, because the desk clerk wasn’t going to rent me a room. The place was booked up due to the conference and the hotel staff said all of the rooms were taken. I ended up in a room on the third floor of the hotel. The flight was 3 hours and I was tired by the time I got to the hotel. I turned on the air conditioner and laid down on the bed. I fell asleep for an hour. When I woke up, it was close to dinner time. I decided to take a shower and spruce up before meeting some of my co-workers at a local seafood restaurant. I went to the bathroom for the first time since checking into the hotel room. I was disgusted by the condition of the bathroom. The sink was moldy and gross and the shower head was covered with a slimy substance. There was absolutely no way that I was going to step into that tub to take a shower or wash my hands was the dirty water coming out of that moldy sink. I contacted the front desk to complain about the plumbing situation in my room. They really didn’t offer any solution to the problem. They just reminded me that the hotel was completely booked up.
