HVAC workers are the guys who should be wearing the cakes.
Recently I saw a billboard that said not all heroes wear capes. It was an advertisement for nurses. In fact, I believe it was a sign encouraging people to go to nursing school. Okay, I will not disagree with the fact that nurses are valuable and necessary to society. However I think there are people that are even bigger heroes in my neck of the woods. I happen to live in the Southeastern part of the country, and let me tell you it is hot and humid here. I think the people who are most heroic are HVAC people. The guy to come and fix your air conditioning are my biggest heroes. You may not be aware of it, but in some parts of our state, you can often hear about elderly people dying because of heat stroke. It is vital that we have good air conditioning where we live. The thermostat often registers triple digits or near triple digits in the Summers. Some elderly people either cannot afford their air conditioning or they simply do not realize how hot it is getting in their home. They often Perish. This is why it is so important that nursing homes, hospitals, assisted living facilities, and even just regular houses have very good air conditioning systems. In fact, I have window AC units in my house just in case my central heating and cooling goes on the fritz. I do not want to have to live without AC during the summer, and trust me no one else does either. HVAC workers are the guys who should be wearing the cakes. Anyway, as a high school teacher, I often recommend that my students consider learning a trade such as Heating and Cooling technician. Not only is this a way to earn a decent living without having to go to 4 years of school, it is also a good way to learn skills that help you as a homeowner. HVAC heroes are all around us. Let’s give them all a hand.
