Should I still get a gas furnace if I have a fireplace?

Do you assume that I should still get a gas furnace if I have a fireplace? I am building our house, & the company wants myself and others to make a decision about the gas furnaces.

I have already decided that I easily want to install a fireplace in our house. I have never had a fireplace in our house, but the loft that I grew up in as a kid easily had a fireplace, & I loved it. There is something about a fireplace that makes you warm & welcome, & the smell of burning wood is appealing. I will have the fireplace fastened to a series of vents so that the fireplace will consistently be able to give heat to our entire loft rather than just the room that the fireplace is in. Since I guess that I want a fireplace, that part of the planning is simple. However, I don’t guess if I want a gas furnace as well. The company asked myself and others if I wanted to install a gas furnace, & at first, I did not understand why I would even want to install a gas furnace. Why would I want to install a gas furnace? Once the company explained it, it made sense. During the middle of the night, the fireplace will usually burn out, leaving the loft pretty cold. If I purchase a gas furnace, the gas furnace would only kick on while every one of us were in those hours & would run until I got the fireplace going. It wouldn’t be easily costly, but it would act as a heat source while every one of us were in the middle of the night. The gas furnace would also act as a backup in case something ever happened to our fireplace. Although it would be costly, it sounds like a relaxing idea to have a gas furnace just in case.
