What’s the best temperature for the A/C?

For the most part, my husband and I get along, and it’s not much that we fight about.

In fact, most of our fights are about minor things that can be easily resolved with tiny compromises.

But there is one thing that we have been fighting about since we lived together that we have yet to solve. And that is the ideal temperature for the air conditioning in our home. He likes to keep the A/C at 72 degrees in the day, and then 70 degrees at night. This means, it is always cold inside the house, and he insists that it feels great. I would prefer to keep the thermostat at 78 during the day and then a 74 at night. He believes that 78 degrees is too hot for the daytime, especially during the Summer when the sun is hot outside. I assured him that 78 is the recommended temperature to keep the A/C without sacrificing any comfort inside our home. I have even made the argument that if we set the thermostat to 78 degrees that we could save money. Unfortunately, he has never accepted this argument, even after I presented the facts and data from the Department of Energy website to him. This has been an ongoing argument between us and if I complain about it being too cold, he always suggests that I wear more clothes when I am inside the house. I don’t think we will ever agree on the ideal temperature for inside our home because we have our own preferences. Perhaps one day we will be able to see eye-to-eye on this minor issue.
