I’ve heard the old saying that lightning never strikes in the same place twice, but I can say that is an absolute lie. When you live in a place with more than a million flashes of lightning every year, lightning is bound to strike the same place twice. I live in a state that is one of the only places in the country to have more lightning than kansas. One of the reasons is due to the rising heat and moving sea breeze. These two things together are a combination for lightning strikes. Last year lightning struck a transformer near my home and my family and I were without power for 5 days. It took a long time to replace the Transformer due to storms. The lightning happened to strike during a storm and the electrical contractors couldn’t touch the Transformer until it wasn’t raining anymore. During that time we didn’t have any power to the house and I thought about getting a generator. I contacted a licensed electrician to get a quote for a generator. I didn’t know how much money it was going to cost and I didn’t even know what size of a generator I would need. Luckily, the licensed electrician gave me a lot of ideas. He spoke with me about whole house generators and smaller generators that would be able to help during an emergency. The electrician gave me a lot of information and I wanted to think about all of those points before I made a decision to spend thousands of dollars.
