When it started looking like the Covid thing was here to stay, we started to worry a bit.
There had been SARS scare before that sort of didn’t really pan out the way they thought it would. But Covid was a whole different animal for sure. Once the contractor sent us home to work from our own AC late that Spring, we knew we were in for it. There was just this sense that being cooped up inside the central AC of our new home was not going to be a short term situation. And we were right. But really, we had it so much easier than millions of others who dealt with far worse. Sure, we all had to figure out how to live inside the Heating and A/C of our new home together and take pay cuts. But, we didn’t lose work or anything like that. Still, we noted immediately that finding a location for ourselves was imperative. With the kids schooling remotely and our spouses sharing the new kitchen, we were in need of some privacy. We care about our family, but we also need some quiet time to ourselves as well. Yet, there just wasn’t an unclaimed space that we could sort of slide into for some quiet. That’s when we decided to reuse the garage. It had become such a dumping ground for junk that we couldn’t even put one vehicle in there. So we cleaned it out and organized that space typically. Then, we hired the Heating & A/C professional to add a ductless heat pump on the exterior wall of the garage. We’re still using the AC in the garage as our home office.
