I am studying a lot as a new homeowner. When you have only lived in rentals, there is a ton of stuff you never learn because you don’t have to learn it. I was raised in an apartment building in the city ,so I never had to mow a grass in our life until now. There is certainly a steep studying curve here, and I am trying to learn as much as I can every single morning, because I feel all this stuff will come up time and again over the years. I am always going to live here, for the rest of our life, so I need to understand how to troubleshoot the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C system, amongst other things. When I moved in, the only thing I knew how to do was to adjust the temperature control and nothing else. I had never even changed out an air filter before, because that was something the super for the apartment complex always did. So now the first thing I do when the house gets warm is to hold up our hand in front of the air vent and see what the airflow feels like. The simplest things are the easiest to overlook, and a congested up air filter can put extra wear and tear on your system. Then the air conditioning has to work harder and harder to cool down the house, and that’s when most of the major complications happen.
