Getting healthier in a pandemic

There is no doubt that this was the year that I just had to change my ways.

The pandemic was finally the thing that legitimately caught my attention in a way that got me to face facts.

The facts were that I was in my mid fifties, overweight in addition to out of shape. There were people my age and to physical condition that were genuinely dying from this virus. I knew that I had to get my butt off the couch and out of the air conditioning and get active and get my sweat on. The diet changes weren’t straight-forward either, because I legitimately love to eat in and plus all the green stuff in addition to veggies just didn’t do it for me. I still felt like I was missing something. However, I provided myself a cheat day each month that would allow me to eat whatever I wanted. That actually really helped me stay on track. Truthfully, I got used to eating a more healthy diet after a while. The getting up in and out of the HVAC was not that awful either. I started out by simply trying to go for a walk twice every single day. Gradually, I got to where I could add some resistance and weight training to that. I wasn’t ready to test out the gym just yet with Covid still present and in the way. So, I called the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C professionals and had them put in a ductless heating and cooling unit in the basement. I then put up a couple of walls in and before I knew it, I had myself a new home gym. It’s genuinely pretty great. There is plenty of room even as I add additional pieces of equipment. Of course, being able to totally customize the HVAC comfort is just the icing on the cake.
