There is no doubt that this was the year that I just had to change my ways.
The pandemic was finally the thing that really caught my attention in a way that got me to face facts.
And the facts were that I was in my mid-fifties, overweight and out of shape. There were people my age and conditions that were actually dying from this virus. I knew that I had to get my butt off the couch in the HVAC and get my sweat on. The diet changes weren’t easy either. Mostly because I really love to eat and all the green stuff and veggies just didn’t do it for me. However, I gave myself a cheat day each week that would allow me to eat whatever I wanted. That really helped. And honestly, I got used to eating a more healthy diet after a while. The getting up and out of the HVAC was not that terrible either. I started out by simply trying to go for a walk twice a day. Gradually, I got to where I could add some resistance and weight training to that. I wasn’t ready to test out the gym just yet with Covid still around. So, I called the HVAC people and had them put in a ductless heating & cooling unit in the basement. I then put up a couple of walls and I had myself a home gym. It’s actually pretty great. There is plenty of room even as I added different pieces of equipment. Of course, being able to totally customize the HVAC comfort is just the icing on the cake.
