My family keeps up with a very hectic schedule.
My husband and I both work full-time jobs, and we have three boys from age seven to fourteen.
Our sons are all heavily involved in ice hockey. They each have several practices per week and games on the weekends. We travel all over for tournaments. In the off-season, the boys participate in training camps. We spend the majority of our time in either the car or at various ice rinks. Regular tasks such as laundry, vacuuming and grocery shopping often get neglected. We need to be extremely organized and productive with our time. It’s more important to me that my kids get their homework done and benefit from a good night’s sleep than for me to go shopping. However, I am unwilling to rely on fast food. Grabbing burgers in a bag or a bucket of chicken on the way home from the rink is very unhealthy. My boys burn a lot of calories playing hockey. In order to grow strong muscles, they need good nutrition. With no time to cook, I turned to a local meal delivery service. This has proven invaluable for us. We have online access to a long and diverse list of meal options. There’s always something to suit everybody’s tastes. My boys, husband and I each pick out what we want for the week. The dinners are nicely packaged and simply need to be baked in the oven. There’s no need to buy additional ingredients and the clean up is quick and easy. The portions are good sized and I can be sure we’re eating clean and healthy. While the service isn’t cheap, it saves me from spending about the same amount on groceries. Plus, there’s no waste. I don’t have a bunch of vegetables and meat spoiling in the refrigerator.
